I was shocked when I realized it was dedicated to Bob Dorough and me, and I was pleasantly rewarded to hear your respectful and artful interpretations of our songs. I never heard the dreaded Grape song done so slowly, and I rather like it. I hope you will continue to sing my songs, the sad ones as well as the funny ones. This album is indeed 'charming' in the best sense IMO. Very glad to see an album dedicated to the great songs of DF/BD!!! Siebert swings great, & while there is some 'accent' on the words, I really like the way she plays with the voice & range. Also the band cooks behind her, while also very capable of touching sensitivity (as on "Small Day Tomorrow"). I like Carol Fredette's album of DF/BD too very much: but this one is different and equal I think. Siebert a vocalist to watch!

'A Tribute to David Frishberg and Bob Dorough' steht auf dem Cover von "Small Day Tomorrow". Genau diesen beiden Jazzgrößen gilt die besondere Liebe der Jazzsängerin Tanja Siebert und ihrem Quartett. Die junge Berlinerin singt die teils bekannten, teils weniger bekannten Songs mit großer Leidenschaft und unglaublich viel Charme. Man hört ihr – dem ganzen Album – diese Liebe eindeutig an ... Tanja Siebert - "Small Day Tomorrow" Tanja Siebert genoss eine klassische Gesangsausbildung, spielt Posaune bei der Big Band der Jazzschule Berlin und arbeitet zudem als Radiomoderatorin. Zusammen mit Dan-Robin Matthies (p), Lars Gühlcke (b) und Matthias Klein (dr) hat sie sich ausgewählter Songs von Bob Dorough und David Frishberg, zwei integralen Persönlichkeiten der amerikanischen Jazzszene, angenommen. Bob Dorough, Komponist und hintergründiger Textschreiber, war der einzige Sänger, der je vor einer Miles Davis-Band gestanden hat. Pianist David L. Frishberg ist laut New York Times 'the Stephen Sondheim for Song Writing' und hatte schon sehr früh einen großen Erfolg mit dem Stück "Peel me a Grape", das auch auf "Small Day Tomorrow" eindeutig zu den Highlights gehört.

Hervorragend gesungen, immer mit einem Augenzwinkern in der Stimme präsentiert uns Tanja Siebert Songs zweier großer Künstler und zugleich den amerikanischen Jazz der 50er und 60er Jahre. Das Album "Small Day Tomorrow" ist eine Hommage, und als solche zweifellos beachtlich.
